Pappa al pomodoro

this one goes out to my Firenze roomies :)

Pappa al pomodoro
bread and tomato Soup

Jamie Oliver's recipe

Delicious cherry tomatoes roasted with chopped garlic, olive oil and basil leaves.

Combined into more roasted garlic and basil stalks ( can you smell the essential oil?!) with cans of whole plum tomatoes.

Add bread, torn basil leaves and the rest of the olive oil in your house and you're good.

Optional: serve to Anglo (read: culinarily deprived) husband who will turn his nose up at it, and ask "innocent" questions such as, "do you like it?" More for you!

men!!!!!

I'm near giving up myself. We had a breakthrough with pork last night though! (This is normally verboten.) I made a cumin and peppered crusted pork with green beans and eggplant on the side. He ate it, but wanted to know where the potatoes were........................ and what the "sauce" was. (well, the tons of BUTTER and lemon juice and olive oil was enough of a "sauce" for me but.........)
